Questions, briefly.
Is this about conscious AI?
No. Telostatic Intelligence is not a claim that AI systems are conscious or sentient. It is a practical framing for agent reliability.
What does “telostatic” mean?
It combines telos, meaning purpose, with the stabilizing logic of homeostasis. A telostatic system maintains a purpose-state under changing conditions.
Is this a product?
No. This site is a public thought experiment and interactive sketch.
What is a purpose-state?
A purpose-state is the broader boundary around a goal: what the agent is trying to preserve, what is out of scope, what uncertainty matters, and what should stop or escalate the action.
Why not just use better prompts?
Prompts tell agents what to do. They do not reliably enforce what must remain true while the agent acts, especially when actions have side effects.
What is the pre-action gate?
A checkpoint before the agent takes a consequential action. It evaluates whether the action still preserves the purpose-state.
What would make this wrong?
If future models reliably maintain purpose-state implicitly, or if simple logging and memory are enough for real deployments, this framing may be unnecessary.
